I like it. And I don't know if it's your intention, but you can very easily argue that he's a Napoleon puppet with the whole lack of a shadow + pyramids thing (or the total opposite? Who knows.) Or, if you want, we could just write that he went on an earlier expedition into the Pyramid and disappeared, assumed dead, and then things go along from there. We could work it in that he knows more than anyone about the true function of the pyramids, save Napoleon, though I feel like there should be some kind of cost to that knowledge.
