The one time so far that we had a chance to see an EGO become duplicate shards was during the pre-register period of Limbus, where I think it was 300,000 pre-regs to get Ryoshu's 4th Match for free? We only got 180,000, so we didn't get a chance to see what it would look like to obtain the pass 4th Match and the reward 4th Match.

They do remove it, which is why the clause is so weird to me kek. I'm guessing it's there for an incredibly rare chance of fucking up an EGO release, and needing to mail it to everyone to cover people who were supposed to get it but didn't.
