It's Americana in a way.
All your friends from school move away, go to college, move to the big city and start a family, and you're still working the same job at the oil change place you got a job at 17 at.
Still go to the same dive bar, and once in a while you see a friend there who came home to visit his mother for thanksgiving.
We actually need some people like that. They can tell us stories about what changed after everyone left. Who bought the old Barckley house, who got married to who, and so on.

And while everyone moves on with their life, they simply stay put, telling anyone who will listen to how things once were....
