What humans actually crave is novelty.
Conflict creates change in the world and characters.
but conflict is not the only driver of change.
It's like claiming that killing others is the core motivation of humans.
In reality humans are motivated more by fixing things, or making pretty things, or love, or desire of learning, or desire to be accepted by a group, or gain recognition, or help others, more than we are motivated by killing others and a lust for power.
Conflict could be changed then to trying to help others and fixing things, instead of killing and destroying.
In fact, we could change technically the act of striking, into something positive.
Imagine by example, that a martial art strike could be turned into a positive act, like cleaning, which is full of physical motion, or dancing.
Imagine a 2D fighter mechanics but instead of fighting another human, your goal is to clean up dirt using the same mechanic as striking something.
