I'll take a stab at this one - traditional lolcows are basically defined by a complete lack of true self-awareness, they're completely genuine in the way that they don't really process the world around them in a functional manner; even at absolute best, guys along the lines of Lowtiergod are more "self-conscious" than "self-aware", spinning a web of lies and cope to make up for insecurities over lacking physical possessions and shit rather than ever once realizing that their fundamental behavior is just retarded.

Lolcow orbiters on the other hand basically have a lack of self-awareness^2 by virtue of existing in this truly bizarre limbo state where they seem to have actual awareness of their physical/mental flaws as a person (fat, autistic, impulsive, egotistical, etc.), but their way of "dealing" with it is... to just seek out someone that roughly matches their profile, clearly too specific of a reflection of themselves to just be mere coincidence, and they try to antagonize them 24/7. The lolcow is being themselves. but the lolcow orbiter is making several more deliberately conscious and planned-out decisions (that don't benefit themselves in any way) to do shit that overflows into being even more lacking in self-awareness than the guy they orbit.
