i tried getting into the game a couple years before actually liking it and playing through it last november, my first character was a femroe pugilist because i tend to play brawny characters in rpgs and am partial to the monk/cleric aesthetic. the game didn't stick for me though, and when i came to try again with my sunnie, i made her a lancer to try something different. drg is fun but i prefer other jobs way more..
