>Have you ever played a female character?
I've played a grand total of 3 out of several dozens of characters. I also GM so I "play" female NPCs all the fucking time. Somehow the latter never seems to spark debate. Curious...
>Do you think it made the other players feel uncomfortable or awkward?
No, because I'm not a delusional autogynephiliac faggot and neither are the other people in my group. One of my female characters was a high CHA sorceress and would sometimes get her way by seducing NPCs, but I kept it short and subtle.
This is theater, characters are not you, they're devices to interact with the game mechanics while collectively telling a story. If I have an interesting character in mind I'd like to bring to life, I'll do it regardless of how different they may be from me. This goes not just for playing women, but also playing characters with radically different views from mine. Again, people get their panties into a twist about playing female characters but somehow don't have a problem playing evil torturers, or brainwashed cult members worshipping demons and Great Old Ones.
Sure, play a woman if you have an interesting female character in mind. Just don't act like a fucking drag queen at my table. Same shit when someone plays an evil character, by all means do it if you have something interesting in mind, but no one needs detailed descriptions of your orphan maiming escapades.
