Um, actually, Superman is living in Metropolis in the 2025 film. He is far removed from Smallville. It's his cousin that is currently living there with the Kents, on the farm with Krypto so Krypto is effectively her dog. This is the same as the DCAU and many DC comic books.

Clark is almost never depicted as having Krypto in Metropolis in the comics. He is always on the Kent farm or at the Fortress of Solitude.
