As you can NEVER AGAIN do the tutorial on subsequent "NG+ loops" so be sure to kill.

Was gonna spoil it but I'd assume other new players would want to be aware of this at least.
Oh might as well say that if you did miss it, its fine too. As the sword is quite over powered anyway.
