It's because the word has been abused. Speedrunning (something I invented in 1990) used to mean going through the entire games without shortcuts or cheating, as fast as you possibly can.
Now the term means to cheat by any means necessary glitches included to bypass 99.999999% of the game. Then they call themselves champions and speedrunners. What a joke.
