In this headcanon version you would still get gotenks and gohan fighting him but it would just happen in otherworld. Maybe goku needs to spend a really really long time on the super spirit bomb so everyone has to fight and job to buu in sequence, but maybe it would get a little stale done that way. I’m sure toriyama is better at pacing a story than I am
