I'd say I'm more familiar than most with Giger's work. I thought you were still talking about Bionicle LMAO
With Giger I assume he's not going for horror as much as alluding to a state of being between sex/death, pleasure/pain, etc. etc.
Most of his material is quite erotic ... or it *would* be if it weren't corpses and women fused with machinery in ways that would be excruciatingly painful...
So for me his art is about this extreme yet peaceful altered state of mind.
