Then make him a genius or a scholar or a philosopher or an activist, that's more interesting than some salaryman aping off thousands of years of combined human knowledge.

Skill issue on your part as a writer, besides you can write a lorebook for those invested in the world.
There is no reason to have one-way trips to "other worlds", just write a normal fantasy story.
