The power costs of grinding up all that garbage would completely nullifying the economic benefit of having the hole in the first place. Then you'd have to constantly worry about the ground shifting as it settles over time. you might control the leachate with a big ass, multi-layer liner but then your funneling a lot of water into your leachate treatment plant which would have to try and remove a bit of mercury, cadmium etc from a lot of water which would be expensive
