They just added limited-time bonuses for doing it right now because it's better for their numbers to encourage people to come back regularly rather than doing an entire expansion at once when it's all out.

I'm still upset you can't do sixth difficulty in co-op. Even if there's no rewards, or there is some shitty third tier reward, it would have been loads of fun to do it in co-op with your /gig/ buddies.
