So all of Rocks crew were in awe of Roger and his haki, Kaido even used Roger as his example for haki triumphing all and we now know first hand he saw the immortal bullshit and Imu. Meanwhile Gaban specifically said "be mindful how you use haki they're not immortal" not "with enough haki you can kill them", which could imply special haki technique is needed not just power levels. Gaban specifically stated that they're not immortal which implies SOMEONE killed one before, likely on God Valley.

The question is has Roger used Divine Departure yet? Divine Departure 神避 can also be translated as "Death of a god". This could imply Roger created the technique for killing immortals or "gods", hence why Gaban said be mindful of how you use haki to kill immortals because a technique is needed. It would explain why Kaido used Roger as the example.

It would also make sense why the gorosei said Shanks would be hard to handle if he went rogue since he was the only Roger pirate skilled enough to learn Roger's moves and now has Divine Departure himself, and explain his Observation Killer technique if it turns out the technique used to kill observation is similar to the technique to kill immortals.

Roger didn't yet use Divine Departure in the flashback when we saw him fight Garp so perhaps this is where he creates it.
