Problem with misskey, or really any of the federalized networks, is the lack of centralized numbers. Everyone is broken up into their own sphere and it isn't straight forward on how to access the other instances.
People desire the natural monopolies of big market platforms. You're never growing to 100k+ followers easy on misskey compared to Twitter. The only direct equivalent is Bluesky but that has it's own issues as well as not being big enough. People just have to put up with Twitter's bullshit since there's no good alternative unless you magically convince people to shift to one platform all at once.
