Because mutually they're trapped with each other, none of them have any star power on their own. its the exact dynamic the fishtank people have with fishtank. Sam always questions what the fish want out of fishtank and he fears the ones that are just there for fun like Haley because he has no leverage over them. Burt and Alex are perpetual fishtank slaves for the rest of their life because they want fame.
