The hard part of FE6 is all in the shit you can't see coming. Just use a walkthrough and the game is the same as every other game. Otherwise you'll get ambushed by stupid reinforcements, be stuck with awful party members that are never any good and so on. Most regular enemies aren't going to kill you, only ambush spawns and long ranged staves and weapons hitting weaker characters do.
At one point in the game you can buy angelic robes and just give them to all your team. After that I just run around the rest of the chapters with bulky characters that never die.

Other than that stay stocked on restore staves. Also half the cast just sucks for no reason so watch that. Also watch the true ending's requirements.
