I don't want to turn every drawing I do for fun and every environment I spend time in into a work opportunity, even if it becomes one naturally. It has nothing to do with me doubting or looking down upon my own works.
>Isn't this a problem many of your students run into?
The problem my girls run into is that the educational system failed them. In Serbia, we have specialized highschools (Stručna škola) that you get into instead of a regular highschool (gimnazija). On paper, I should be getting students that never went to a specialized art schools so they can cover the holes in their knowledge to be competitive enough to get into Art Academies. In reality, most of my girls are from art highschools because art highschools have become so trash, that I started advising parents AGAINST getting their kid in one if they think their kid should try becoming an artist. for 7 seven years, I have been regularly getting kids who have been studying packaging for FOUR YEARS and CANT DRAW A CUBE. Serbian education is imploding and we need gallows.
>you yourself have forgotten the years of "blood, sweat and tears" it took you to find your style.
You don't "find" your style. Your style evolves naturally as a result of specific techniques, technology and pipeline you use. This is why a lot of people stop improving after they "find their style" and build their own coffin around it.
