>ASTATS ADMIN:
>"But on the other hand I really missed one question that needed to discussed or answered... something that really annoys me already years.... the "cheat issue" with Steam Achievements... aka SAM... :-("

>Alden (https://steamcommunity.com/id/alden):
>"Yeah, the PC is inherently open so there's really no way to protect achievements in that way. Users can always modify data in-memory on their computer to post false data to Steam. Same trouble with leaderboards."
>"we've thought about it in the past, but it's not really reasonable to try and 'fix'"

>ASTATS ADMIN:
>"Isn't there a way to "protect" the Steam Achievements with a modern kind of security system?

>Alden:
>"you can't really trust data from code that is executing on a player's computer. I don't understand all the technical details, but I'm told it's not really something that can be fixed without requiring games always be connected 'online' to continually validate data againsta a secure server. And that server would have to know much more about each game and somehow tell whether the user has met criteria required to unlock the achievement."

>ASTATS ADMIN:
>"Sounds like it's more complicated and/or difficult as I thought at first. And I always kinda thought that you aren't really interested to do something against this 'SAM dilemma'..."

>Alden:
>"Yeah, in a perfect world, we'd like achievements to be more secure. But its not really reasonable on a PC. Xbox and Playstation can do it because they control the hardware really tightly."

valve literally never gave a fuck about SAM or other achievement unlockers, infact you can unlock any achievement you want with the native Steam client by just using the navconsole commands (steam://nav/console)
