I decided to try removing the old crab apple tree stump using an electric demolition jack hammer. I started by severing most of the big roots. Then I switched to cleaving off strips of wood from the edge and working toward the center, which seemed to be a better approach. Luckily I had multiple tool bits because now and then I'd get a bit stuck in the stump and would have to use a different one to rescue the first bit.
Not a fast process but I should be able to knock the stump down enough to get the hump out of the yard.
My garlic looks to be done, once my stump obsession is handled I'll pick it. Tomatoes should hit their stride this weeks.
