More so then Denji just being an ultra retard, it's got more to do with the placement of the current events in the volume booklet. We're 2 chapters away from the volume ending, and the volumes always end on cliffhangers where some character is teased to die, or something big and unexpected should happen next. The context of the current situation implies a big disasterous inconvenience is taking place - either Asa or Yoru is dying atm - and we know from Fire devil that Denji will need to make a choice. Some brain-scratcher. If you remember that Yoru always teased and threatened Asa with absorbing the rest of her brain and killing her, then you'll realize this is the perfect situation for that threat to finally get real.

It's obviously gonna come down to him choosing one of the two personalities inside Asa's body, and we know he'll chose Yoru.
