im just gonna call it like I see it as a simpleton. Series started with lightheartedness that took a turn into serious moments where kids have life and death knife fights with cool supernatural elements. Then it becomes less and less about that as it veers into anime tropes and the knifes become more useless over time until no ones even using them anymore. It was only cool when the characters could die to simple sharp objects and people like Orochimaru were treated like otherworldly demons.
