That's been very true in my experience.
Games can have even more visible flaws than books/movies/albums/paintings do because of the way all of those strata of expressions layer on top of one another and intersect with interactivity.
The experience of playing the game in your brain is greater than the sum of its parts, which leads people to often overlook parts that have blatant flaws.
