Staring at your EQ graph visualization and doing sweeps in https://www.szynalski.com/tone-generator/ , tweaking quality/gain, turning EQ on and off while listening to music for sanity checks, consulting picrel, repeat for hours until you think you've got it right. Then you get on the computer the next day and realize your ears were adjusting to the a warped sound signature the whole time and you got it wrong, so you start again.
Eventually you get it close enough to where you think it's good enough, but once in a while you watch a youtube video or listen to a song where something sounds not quite right, and you wonder... is that my fault, or the recording's?
