We're doing better, but not 'fine'. The problem is that processing removes a lot of beneficial components from whole foods, which reflects in the health outcomes. It should be common knowledge that processed meats are worse than regular meat, processed grains worse than whole grains, etc.
The less processing something has, the less harmful it is and may be even health promoting versus neutral (generally speaking, there are exceptions).
One also has to look at health outcomes regarding diseases. The more fruits and vegetables you eat, the lower your risk for diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease etc.
Make America Healthy Again sounds incredibly based to me.
