Though as this regards narrative the question may not be as simple. Do you wanna tell a story of a foreign and alien culture to our own think the Dunmer in Morrowind who practice slavery of the khajit and argonians as a people but are still fascinating as people. You can totally tell a unique story about assimilating into beliefs that are not your own and "moral corruption" so to speak of doing what is necessary to survive. But in regards of isekai and portal fantasies they usually are more leaning towards a morality play or self indulgent power trips where the hero alters the world. So yeah, idk wish fulfillment of being the revolution that changes the world or subsuming to a world that you cannot adhere to without compromises.
