Generally yes. There are some thin manga like Lucky Star and K-ON! that were printed big originally and so the size didn't change when it got translated. I was mostly comparing my experience walking into a B&N recently and saw how big all the manga were.
In the pic it looks like the yotsuba volume is just taller so it wouldn't necessarily mean it would be better. I checked with a vol12 eng and jp and yes the panels are bigger but to compensate some of the art is cut off at the tops and bottoms of the page. It's definitely not something anyone would notice unless they were directly comparing it. I can post a image if you want. I already made this one and didn't want to bother with it unless you asked.
