The funny thing is it really isn't even if it looks so much more faster paced. High-level Mario Kart play, especially for World requires memorizing a ton of shortcuts and mastering the grinding, wall-riding, and trick mechanics while also memorizing item sets and figuring out when it's best to save or use items. Stuff like trick jumps also require a ton of precision as one slight wrong move of the stick will put you in a sub-optimal position and could make you miss some of the shortcuts.

MKW's items are also built around fucking over other players (mostly) while all of Air Ride's power-ups are based around increasing your own speed in races, as getting hit doesn't really slow you down. I think this alone might make the game far more appealing to casual players, so many normalfags complain about getting shit on all the time in MK due to the item spam and how the game is a mess with 24 racers.

F-zero 99, despite having literally 100 players per race, I find much easier to parse the action than in MKworld. The game is fucking chaos if you're stuck in the middle of the pack.
