Kaus Gammamon and Gizamon are dealing with several Commandramon reinforcements. The others are forced to hide behind a wall while bullets fly past. Leomon drops you at the back of the pack, then runs forward to deal with the horde of enemies. He's really pulling his weight. The Digivolution may not have been perfect, but it's still a strong one, and he's making the most of it.
"Marnie! You're okay! And Leomon-"
"Leomon is fine. What's the holdup?"
Wind points to the bullet holes.
"They've sent in reinforcements from the network's direction. We have to break past them."
You look down at Phascomon, feeling the familiar surge of energy well up.
"One more in me."
"Yeah. Don't turn back until you really need to."
"Capisce."
Porcupamon Digivolves for what you hope is the last time today. With his tankiness, you manage to break through the defensive line. You exit the building with under a minute to spare, straight onto the EM wave bridge. You're so close. All of you run towards the network, eager to take its oppressive darkness over the hellish battlefield that this partition has become.
Suddenly, you hear a savage roar echoing through the halls. It could only be DarkTyrannomon making his way towards you. Realistically, he's too far away to reach you in timeābut the sound has an immediate effect on Kunemon guy. Still reeling from the loss of his Digimon, he turns towards the entrance and freezes up, his lip quivering. That's enough for a Commandramon to pop out of the building and shoot him.
He topples over, too far for anyone to reach in time. You stare at your VPN timer. Ten seconds. Nobody has the opportunity to run back and grab him. You look forward and run, digitizing yourself and turning your body into lower-level data. You don't glance back until you're in the network tunnel. Once again, Leomon has stopped to be a hero. He has the boy tucked under one arm, and is assisting him in activating his program. Wind watches, wide-eyed, as the two of them leap into the network and join your desperate escape. The VPN has already run out, leaving multiple sets of beeping alarms from each of your notification windows.
"We made it!" Gazimon cries.
"Not all of us..." Wind mumbles.
