i have to do at least some of my regular work today or ill be really behind and my wrist is starting to hurt. so you may be out of luck. i'm letting chatgpt make its own pixel art designs for the pokemon it spontaneously invented though. this one is kind of just a beetle lol. its supposed to have hieroglyphs on the wings but that doesnt really come out in pixel art i suppose.

i assumed scarabeet was scarab plus beet considering beets are pretty important agriculturally in egypt, and in ancient times sugar beets were one of the few ways that people could get any kind of sugar type thing, honey being basically the only other. beets are dark and shiny like a beetle so i thought a beet beetle was a need idea. the sugar part could also be involved in a sort of honeydew like way...not the melon (though those are pretty big [as in important[ in egypt as well) but rather the sugarwater type "dew" that aphids will make as they drink tree sap and sort of sweat out the sugar thats beyond their nutritional needs. lots of potential there!

i bet that when it made up the name "scarabeet" it was a bit influenced by the importance of beets in egypt, but when i asked it to expand on that it forgot about it...or maybe it was really just shortening "scarab beetle" the whole time and it was only me seeing the relation to beets the vegetable. anyhow! neat stuff.
