It is not dying. It is becoming ubiquitous, which might be worse. What we call 'wokeness' is just what all the hip intellectuals were believing like 80 years ago. It has now become the general ideology of even the peons. This was done largely with the help of huge philanthropic organizations over many decades (Carnegie, Rockefeller etc) and there are also strong economic incentives for the absorption of this ideology. Unfortunately for something to be cool it needs to be not common, when every one thinks something, it becomes not cool. This has put the trajectory of progressive thinking in a bind that I am unsure how it can get out of. They have spend the last century as the cutting edge of cool new ways of thinking and now they have reached the end of the line. The future will be interesting.
Anything that comes next cant simply undo what has been done, it has to paint on the canvas that already has been painted, so wokeness will be with us for a long, long time, but new things will be built over it. Will look pretty gay for a while, I fear.

Bannon is not or was not previously any sort of important player and I doubt the veracity of this. I think Musk is pissed at Bannon because Bannon for various reason hates the technocrat element of Trump's support structure and there is a natural animosity. Bannon wants to 'dismantle the administrative state' and the tech fellas want to basically rationalize it and make into their own instrument.
