Ehhhhhhhhh I guess you have a point.
Part of me wants to dismiss it with something like "they deserved it lol," but it's obvious the story isn't going for a "us vs them" theme considering that Nona's human friend was unironically loyal and only "betrayed" her when her parents were literally held at gunpoint.
Then again, buildings get destroyed all the time as set-dressing to these kinds of stories where we're supposed to assume no innocent people got hurt.
