2015, chechens were 'voluntarily deployed' in an 'unofficial capacity' to try and incite ukraine into giving russia further pretext to provide increased support to DPR/LPR troops. they accomplished this through emplacing artillery in occupied residential blocks and moving before the inevitable counter-battery fire, executing ukrainian speakers as 'saboteurs', and various other actions often uploaded to VK, telegram, and other socials. meanwhile the DPR/LPR were often committed to pogroms against the local roma and jewish populations. some of those pogroms even breached media containment and had some coverage from outlets in the west. during this time though, most western media was focused on ISIS, and 'some vague ethnic conflict in eastern europe' wasn't nearly as hot with viewers. this part of the conflict was criminally underreported for what happened, even within russian spaces. the video itself just has someone accuse the kid of being a saboteur in russian, and shoot them. we don't get anything else. a lot of the minsk-era conflict was like this, lots of little pieces of horrific shit with no context, no reporting, no investigation.
