Of course it's a normal thing but it happens an unreasonable amount of times when it comes to hands dealt. I once had an entire game where one of the other three players either had a double riichi or a riichi within three to four tiles while I had to fill out the entire hand every time.

Oicho-kabu also actively cheats as does blackjack more than is reasonable in real life. Koi-koi you can fool though, it has certain quirks with the AI you can exploit like with the moon card.

You can watch the OVA of The Legend of Koizumi and read the manga up until Koizumi isn't focused on anymore. I thought it got unbelievably boring once the new guy became the MC.
