>Who has believed our message? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? He grew up like a young plant, like a root out of dry ground, with no form or beauty to attract us. He was despised, rejected, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, and we esteemed him not. Surely he bore our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God. But he was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and by his wounds we are healed. We all like sheep have gone astray, each to his own way, yet the Lord laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed but opened not his mouth, like a lamb led to slaughter, silent before shearers. By oppression and judgment he was taken away; who considered he was cut off from the living, stricken for the sins of the people? He was assigned a grave with the wicked, yet with a rich man in his death, though he had done no violence nor spoken deceit. It was the Lord’s will to crush him; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring, prolong his days, and the will of the Lord shall prosper through him. Out of anguish he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge the righteous servant will justify many, bearing their iniquities. Therefore he will receive a portion among the many, and divide spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death, was numbered with transgressors, bore the sin of many, and intercedes for them.
