The potato was the food of Aryans who once lived in South America. The Chachapoyas, also called, "The Warriors of the Clouds," lived in the cloud forests in the northern regions of the Andes Mountains, present-day Peru. People began settling in this area by 200AD, and the Chachapoyas culture is thought to have developed a few hundred years later. These remarkable people were unlike the other "natives." The Incas called them the "Cloud People," and described them as a white, ruddy, and fair race that built great structures high up in the mountains! However, living in peace with these "Cloud People" was somehow not an option for the mud-race Incas, who, by the 15th century, had utterly destroyed them! Just before the Spanish Conquistadors had arrived, all of the remaining Chachapoya were absorbed into and ruled by the Incan Empire. What is known of them is preserved in old accounts, like one from the Spanish chronicler Pedro Cieza de Leon, who noted that the Chachapoya were all white, ruddy, and fair, the men were handsome, the women were beautiful, and that they were a very gentle group of people.
