The setting of Calvard just doesn't sound as interesting as the Erebonian Empire, which has been teased as the major antagonistic force since Sky SC.
I heard that the Calvard games got rid of some features I enjoy (like highway exploration, minigames, books and fishing), and added action combat.
Whether or not that's actually true, the doomposting has gotten to me. Although I might be in for a positive surprise, seeing how doomposters were wrong about Cold Steel.
