canada brought in waves of millions of unskilled random indians. obviously don't do that. if you can bring in only those with the skills you need though that's different. and once the jobs kick in and you're able to train locals you won't need the immigrants any more. but bootstrapping talent with careful controlled doses of skilled immigrants is sensible provided the numbers aren't too extreme, it has to be done smartly.

and it's not insulting to american locals. you can't be trained up on jobs that were shipped overseas before you were born. trump is trying to bring those industries back but you need people who are already trained to start.
