The foundry part of the business dragged the whole thing down because they insisted on using their own foundries even as they kept falling further and further behind in fabrication node technology. That and milking quad cores for a decade while buying back shares. That and scoffing at chiplets/MCM CPUs when AMD Ryzen and AMD EPYC first came around. Then they tried to enter the GPU market and kind of failed at that too. Also, they have R&D and even manufacturing in net-importing countries which necessarily and unavoidably have very high inflation and very high production costs. Oh, and the US government didn't pay them the money they were supposed to get under the CHIPS act, kek. Now that plant CEO of theirs is driving in the final nails in the coffin by slashing R&D into process node technology improvements. They're done.
Oh, and let's not forget the Raptor Lake clusterfuck with the dying CPUs.
And their horrible thermals performance and power efficiency.
