goro's desire to be relied on is kinda specific. it's not just about being praised/acknowledged. he wanted others to depend on him as if he was a hero. it probably goes back to how he wanted to be a hero and liked pretending he was one.

it all goes hand in hand with how he enjoys his time with the pts when he "joins" and gets to play hero for a bit and get to show off to them and have them "rely" on him and how he liked having shido "rely" on him.
