I mean the only part about the runback I hate is the drill fly at the very start. It sometimes dies to the worms below, sometimes it flies backwards and ricochet shots me and I have to either reset the runback or take the one life loss into the boss room.

Does the game liberally supply you with enough memory lockets or do I have to make a new save file if I chose to upgrade the wrong crest?
I dumped 2 lockets into the Wanderer because I just came off the backs of beating Hollow Knight before playing this, and I'm wondering if I fucked up by not making Hunter better instead. Now I'm about to unlock Beast and Reaper and unsure if I'll like those but I'd want to be able to upgrade them too if one of them suits me.
