Ironically, the base of support in almost all US political polling is about 35%. Trump usually is anywhere from 40% to 50% approval, meaning his base approves plus some independents and a few democrats.
To have below that 35% ish range means a significant amount of your base doesn't like you lol.
That's why for the democrats to have a fucking NINETEEN PERCENT (19%) approval is catastrophic.

They are at record lows throughout many different polls. In Quinnipiac, a liberal poll, they have a fucking 19% approval. Most polls have a baseline support of around 35% to 40%, which is basically just the political base of that person/party.
To be below 30% means some of your own base doesn't approve, and to be below 20% implies half of your own base hates you.
