I need to convince myself that my skin color magically makes up for my many, many failings, which are simply too vast in number to list in full. Really, if it wasn't skin color it would be something equally superficial. Football teams, ice cream flavors, anything I can use to feed my unjustifiable belief that I'm better than everyone else will do, as long as I don't have to put in any effort to actually grow as a person.
