This is all true. Another concern worth mentioning is the lack of replacement parts, both in case of a prolonged conflict, which the origin country might not be willing or even able to provide, and in general, should you rely on them for your own national production. In brazil, we have those Guarani APCs. A modernized version used to have a part coming from Germany. During the Bolsonaro government, Germany's leadership decided they didn't like ours and stopped providing them (screw contracts, I guess). The justification they gave was "muh trees" Thankfully, we were able to find a workaround, but that shows why domestic production is king. Nevermind all the other benefits, like generating jobs in your own country, developing the "know how" locally, etc.
