It's not just bosses though retard. It's been well established that a lot of raptures assume animal-like appearances. There's regular enemies that look like seahorses, crabs, jellyfish and so on. I think there's a lost relic in some early chapter even commenting on this
All Heretics have animal-like boss forms as well and they do go "deep into that territory", Indivilia being a scorpion, Nihi a dragon (not a real animal I know), Behemoth being a bull, Modernia a hornet, Ziz looks like some kinda flying insect
