It absolutely is. Yamato is stronger than fucking King. Her connection to Ace is to code her as being the Ace in the Ace/King/Queen/Jack sequence. Now combine that with how stubborn and self-absorbed she is, and you end up with a character that only makes sense to have herself as her captain. Yamato has better chances of replacing Buggy as the next Yonkou than of becoming a SH for more than one arc before getting kicked off the crew.
