Back in the 70's when you had to input commands into a Unix computer through a paper teletype, without a real convenient backspace key to correct errors, commands were as short as possible.

>cp for copy
>rm for remove
>pwd for print working directory
And so on. With home computers and PC's this went away, but now with phones with bullshit touchscreens it came back, because they're way more clunky and impractical than full keyboards.
