I've never liked a gundam protagonist.
Each one is either a trope taken to extremes or a bland coming of age stand-in. While the extreme ones are sometimes entertaining the teens crying or lack of emotional response after turning a dude into paste/evaporating someone just gets old after the 14th time.

not sure how you'd make a non-kuso 2d fg out of it though. maybe they could use the SD mechs instead of the actual ones so they work more as a 2d fg. idk if pilots would change anything gameplay wise though
